Защо електротехниците трябва да използват изолирани инструменти

Why electricians should use insulated tools

Working with electrical installations involves serious risks – electric shock can occur in a fraction of a second. That's why choosing the right tools is not a matter of preference, but of safety.

What does "1000V insulated tool" mean?

Insulated tools are designed and tested to withstand voltages up to 1000V AC. They are manufactured according to the IEC 60900 standard and bear a double triangle marking and the inscription "1000V". The handles are made of special double-layer insulation, which protects against accidental contact with voltage.

Why are ordinary tools not enough?

Standard screwdrivers and pliers do not have certified insulation. Their plastic handle may seem protective, but at higher voltages or humidity, it does not provide real protection. When working under voltage, this is the difference between life and death.

When are they mandatory?

For any work in electrical panels, distribution boxes, or installations where the power supply cannot be completely switched off — insulated tools are the only correct choice. Experienced electricians use them as standard even when the power is off — just in case.

How to choose correctly?

Look for the IEC 60900 marking and the double triangle on the handle. Regularly check whether the insulation is not cracked or damaged — a damaged tool should be replaced immediately.
